Margarett Atwood - Oryx and Crake. - Futuristic scenario. pretty ace.
"Sound of the Beast - the complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal" by Ian Christie. there are a couple of books like this out there, but this has a goat on the cover so I couldn't resist. The content seems pretty good so far.
"Geopolitics and Globalisation in the Twentieth Century" by Brian W Blouet. Heavy going, but pretty relevant.

Dave Andrews - Not Religion, But Love
i stumbled across this in the bargain bin at Angus & Robertson and it is truly amazing! It's a follow up to 'Christi-Anarchy' - basically Andrews is an Australian who's been exiled from the church - somewhat self-imposed - due to his radical belief that christianity needs to be deconstructed in order to represent the life of Christ more adequately. Not Religion, But Love speaks on sacrifical compassion and how Christ served his community unconditionally, and selflessly, while the christian church tends to be a congregation of takers and/or givers under fear of condemnatio
