It's not that I'm finding Asimov a really bad read it's just I like to see more action and less talking in a novel. I thought initially it was going to move a little faster or be more dramatic... or something. 'come on man! stop ya contemplating and just fn' invade the joint!'. though, I'm 3/4 through so it cant be that boring I guess.

Foundation's supposed to read like a kind of "history of the future" so it's a bit dry in spots. The Robots series is much faster-moving -- Caves of Steel, The Naked Sun and Robots of Dawn. Another thing i found with Asimov is that he's got some really good ideas, but he's not much of a storyteller....

nah, that'd be Philip K Dick i think gibson is noted for helping spawn the whole cyberpunk genre, though its also alleged that he scams most of his ideas of lesser known authors.... funnily enough, im reading an anthology of asimov stuff - love short stories also lying about are The Essential Rumi (great sufi poet's discourses) Georges Bataille - Story of the Eye - pretty wild stuff from a french fulla who was apparently too much for the surrealists! but receiving more attention are DVDs at the mo - taking a break from study as i prepare to move again, and continue drinking heavily after stopping smoking da weed....

yah phillip k dick wrote the book that eventually became blade runner and then the following books by k w jeter.
gibson is credited with starting the cyber punk genre, but i havent heard about the rumours he rips stuff off

heh. heh. My reading list would me more impressive if i was reading the stuff i was suppose to read for Uni instead of rock n roll and dead french poets. Story OF The Eye is great i read that one not to long ago. great imagery if your into that sorta thing ...Blackhashish without the hashish would be just black. throw in too much booze and maybe we are looking at BlackSambuka.... Complete Works - JEAN ARTHUR RIMBAUD ...yeah maybe i'll read chapter 13 of James Joyce "Ulysses" for school on wednesday.... ;D

ooohhh... stupid white men is a great read. michael moore has this knack for injecting comedy value into tragedy, while not disrespecting victims, and not undermining the seriousness of it all. have you seen Bowling for Columbine? i've been reading: The Worst of Woomera by David and Cherry MacKay it's a booklet detailing last years Easter protests at Woomera detention centre, describing the setting up and purpose of the Refugee Embassy, and briefly looking at some of the detainees case studies. Harrowing to say the least.... see: homes.jcu.edu.au/~sci-tgms/woomera/
