re read George Orwell's "Animal Farm", damn that is a good little book. Simple yet effective.
Got the mitts on Philip Normans Stones biography over the weekend, should prove to be a good read. Has anyone here read that one?

;D...HEEH! HEEH! Which one Cowcock? I've read a few different versions of the "Christian" bible, I've also read The Satanic Bible by Anton Lavey both great books although the Anton Lavey does swerve towards the silly side with such D&D inspired gems such as "Smash Christs maggot ridden skull with an iron clad hoof"...c'mon Anton we just came here for a good time man

me loves orwell. in my mind this guy was a genius! still reading Lord of the Rings: midway through book 2... and still reading Thomas a Kempis' Imitation of Christ... one 'psalm' per evening. nice way to reflect and ponder before sleeping.... have now picked up Peter Carey's True History of the Kelly Gang. basically, Carey got hold of Ned's journals and adapted them to a novel. unique and an easy historical read.... Australian PC User (March 2003): good tips on burning.... and, class notes....

Isaac Asimov - Foundation. I got this for free when the library had their dry cleaning day. I can see why they threw it out. A not too believable sci-fi about the collapse of the milky way empire and an effort to stop the entire galaxy from imploding into eons of unrest... sounds better than it really is.

Blowback - Chalmers Johnson Great read in the current climate. Talks about American foreign policy and the way in which their government's meddling in other countries is resulting in increased hatred of America. Added credibility as it was written before september 11 2001.

I went through a pretty massive Asimov kick a few years back....Foundation's cool, so are it's five squillion sequels (which get steadily less believable but no less enjoyable). Check out "Foundation and Empire" and "Second Foundation" in particular... Funny thing about Asimov is his almost total lack of understanding of relationships -- every time he tries to inject a love interest into his stories (and he tries every fucking time) it sounds completely forced and uncomfortable...
