Spectator, thanks for the recommendation re: Bowie's "Heathen." Frankly, I gave up on the guy in the 80s (love everthing from the 70s tho), but this may be worth checking out!
Anyway, for today's listening pleasure:
Coda-EP-great Argentinian doom in the vein of early Dragonauta, with The Head Dragon Federico Wolman guesting on vocals.
Penance-Proving Ground-superb old school U.S. doom. Their best album.
Celestial Season-Sonic Orb-RIP for these guys....
Abdullah-Snake Lore-more great old-school doom from Ohio, USA. Melodic vocals, great songwriting.
Hmmmm, things seem to be getting rather doomy around here, heh heh...........

...hee, hee, hee. had an unexplainable craving for cheesy whinging whinning bitches so... Without You I'm Nothing - PLACEBO (Is he a boy is he a girl, who can really tell but they do rock out in a kind of Bowie meets Cure kind of way. But they are fucking cheesy whingers...) Johhny No Stars - DERN RUTLIDGE (Nostalgia, aint it a bitch and when you think about it they were kinda cheesy, whingy whinning bitches and maybe that is why they broke up. They sure did know how to rock though....) Anyhow there is some pretty interesting looking stuff on Rage so I'm outta here...briefly

...and like a reoccuring nightmare B.R.M.C. - BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB (Mainstream cash in a band with the shit. Whatever you want to believe but these guys manage to cover 6:00AM Rage is crap now vibe and it's time to go to bed perfectly, and they have enough playful raunchiness to make it a good start to the day once you wake up at ohhh lets say 12:30 - 1:00 ) ...and then once the day got underway Crippled Lucifer - BURNING WITCH (Things got decidedly more doomy. I hadn't listened to this for a while and then only once or twice. This guy has a cool 70's sounding singing voice and then his more extreme voice is positevely piercing. Fucking cool...ohhh and of course they aren't in any great hurry to be done with the tunes either. That's O.K. I've got the rest of the day ahead of me and I'm in no real hurry either ;D)...Hey Kevin, did you get around to sussing out "Heathen" yet? What do you think?

Amongst all kinds of shit like the Jesus Lizard, the Vines, the Drones and Henrietta Collins and the Wifebeating Childhaters, the picks of the last week or so are definately: Pod People - Doom Saloon Legends of Motorsport - Beef with Cheese Nunchukka Superfly - there are no Accidents... Actually, other than maybe the Vines it's all been pretty good, but I reckon this is the most exciting time for High Beam yet. Only contender would be the release of Thumlock's EMO.
Have a nice week.

Jeez I've been listening to heaps of stuff lets see;
Peeping Tom- Self-titled EP (Ithink)
Ozzy - Gets Me Through
The Cassanovas - Nasty (single)
Legends - Beef with Cheese
Stiff Meat - Introducing...Stiff Meat
Monster Magnet - Dopes to Infinity
Bob Brozman & Jeff Lang
They are all good at different times of the day!
Ohh yeah I also watched "KYUSS live in Melbourne" last night and that is fucking cool. Has anyone heard of Peeping Tom? Amazing stoner rock stuff, the kind of band that should come on at about 2am to send us all home to bed! Saw them with bllod Duster and Stiff Meat the other week, very good! Great cd artwork too (cover looks like a health care card but is in fact a rock care card)
