, O.K. here's this weeks list of re-discovered favourites and newish shit. Seemed to be in a mood for rockin' chics this week... Land (1975-2002) - PATTI SMITH (I already have most of this stuff on vinyl but it's great to have the convienience of having most of her best stuff all together, plus the bonus disc fucking rocks Piss Factory at last and the live stuff is fucking unreal Strange Little Girl - TORI AMOS (I use to hate her because she wanted so much to be Kate Bush and know she has got over that and started being herself a bit more electro I appreciate her much more. Fuck this thing is all covers but the Lou Reed, Depeche Mode, Eminem, and Slayer songs in particuliar stand out). The Whole Story - KATE BUSH (Amazing voice, amazing arrangements, just fucking amazing. Makes me wanna cry in the Mull Bowl) Live Through This - HOLE (Haven't actually had this one for long and I still much prefer the more abrasive and raw Pretty On The Inside. But I'm into how pissed off this sounds. Of course there also seems to be a HUGE Nirvana influence on this one. Gee, I wonder why) Of course I also listened to some new stuff and some old favourites... Sin Factory - KIM SALMON & THE SURREALISTS (My friend Richie lent me this one because he was quite shocked and maybe a little disgusted that I didn't already have it. After flogging the shit out of it for two weeks so am I. Kim has got to be one of the best guitar players in the country or anywhere for that matter. Now if I can nail even half of those bends...) Coming Down - DANIEL ASH (This dude is in my Top.5 favourite players list. Use to play in the Bauhaus and this is his solo album. His vocals and some of the guitar parts are a little Jesus and Mary Chain. The sort of music you write at six in the morning after you have been awake for 3 weeks on really good speed. Fucking awesome and his cover of Day Tripper is probablly more drug fucked than the original Let It Bleed - THE ROLLING STONES (one of the best albums ever. it's only a matter of time really before this gets back on the turntable. B.R.M.C. - BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB ( To fucking addictive. Only just got it but I've heard it that many times in friends cars and houses I just had to get it and go see them. Can't fucking wait.) Six Distractions - DODGY WORLD (bit of a "Gong" legend is Adam Buckland, use to play in Fugg a few years back. Very sad music but very well written and experimental. Adam really digs The Beach Boys...or was it just Brian Wilson?) I'm sure there will be a new list of fav's to post up here soon. Time for another round of Coming Down. Kind of appropriate with the brain splitting hangover I'm experiencing today

...Ohh and I also forgot Prince Charming - ADAM & THE ANTS (Kind of cheesy, a bit Spaghetti Western, a little bit glam and some amazing percussion. I'll always have a soft spot for Adam & The Ants) She's The Boss - MICK JAGGER (I have always been a firm believer that one must occassionally experience small does of shocking and woeful music in order to better guage good from bad. This is proof enough to any fan of The Stones who wondered why they have been around so long. One listen to this piece of shit and you know the solo career was a big joke and that Keith Richards is the real genius in the stones...) Xyleum Tube EP - APHEX TWIN (Fukt up beats, abrasive noize, not quite dance not quite industrial but very fucking unique. Aphex Twin is very inspirational and also perfect for sending your more upstanding members of society fucking insane. Very cool...) I'm sure I'm forgetting something else so inevitably I'll be back here soon. Gotta bail of to Pretensiousville to check out The Useful Box & Circean ;D

It's all an education ;D ;D

, O.K. Writhe, I'm at least curious as to what HERMANO is. Good drugs, a new band, what the fuck was your point!... Ohh yeah today's listening favourite. Sticky Fingers - THE ROLLING STONES (Rock and Roll with Brass. One can't always listen to Let It Bleed and this one is pretty much full of the goods Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Bitch, Sister Morphine, Dead Flowers...Yeah, Fuck Yeah..I know Tracypew would agree) Eat To The Beat - BLONDIE (Although this one isn't probably going into repeat listening mode it was worth a cursory spin, a bit punk. a bit ironic, a bit sugar sweet pop, I like her and I don't give a fuck what some of you rock pigs may think, although all this sugar is making me crave some Napalm Death, Godflesh, Fudge Tunnel and maybe some 3D House Of Beef...lets see what the day brings shall we)

E.X.P's new EP Pachamama. E.X.P. is a supafuzzy band outta Italy who play a heavy and uncompromisingly intense brand of 60's styled psychedelia. Think of the reckless abandon of MC5 combined with the fuzzed out psychedelia of Blue Cheer. Visit the E.X.P. website at www.expsupafuzz.com

, O.K. well I still can't think of any good reason to stop listening to "Sticky Fingers" (should I mention that my turntable has been labelled by an authoritarian on th subject your classic junkie setup. It makes a constant rythmic clunk as it rotates and makes everything kind of sound like it's underwater. A true classic album will survive this atrocity. Either that or I am certified mad) Had a visitor last night so a brief pause from "Sticky Fingers" (they still had to hear it twice before they gave me weird looks) but we also had a look at B.R.M.C. again (Sunday! bring it fucking on).... Hours - DAVID BOWIE (O.K. I admit this one wont go down in the annuals of history as one of DB's more classic albums but I have to say that even when he kind of sucks he still blows most people away. I've got the new one "Heathen" put aside so I'm sure to be having a good rave about it some time soon) Early Years Vol. 1-2 - TOM WAITS (Found these in a hock shop a while back and didn't know they previously existed. Tom plays accoustic guitar for most of the songs, a little bit of piano and is occasionally backed with upright bass and brushes. The off the wall arrangements haven't started yet and also he sings in a clear voice. Yes this stuff is before he started to sound like he gargles rock salt daily or that he was really inspired by death metal singing)...hhhmmm I think I'm a little over "Sticky Fingers". Who knows whats next in line. Maybe I should leave this fucking house...

, ...then again everytime i leave this fucking house i wind up in a whole heap of trouble. I remember eating tacos, i remember $3 shots of tequila i remember 2 bottles of johhny walker i remember doing guest vocals on a dodgy world song called "elle" i remember passing out during my radio program.... What I don't remember is whos jam room i woke up in (anyone who buys a Marshall valvestate amp should be shot. They fucking suck bigtime). Who gave me a copy of The Stooges "Funtime"? it has instantly become my next favourite album it is most definitely "The Shit" fucking awesome...oohh yeah at some point the bastard who got me so leglessly drunk had to hear Lou Reed's "Reprise" cd which is cool Lou still has "THe Shit"...hang on my cash seems to have evaporated so some how this prick talked me into paying for this mission and....Fuck I think I'm gonna puke!!!

Spectator, if you're groovin' to Kim Salmon, and haven't checked out The Scientists (Kim's 80's swamp rock beast) yet, you should check out the new Citadel Records Scientists compilations 'Blood Red River' & 'Human Jukebox', awesome stuff!
And Jeb, if I can keep steering you towards more great 60's stuff, check out The Music Machine if you get a chance, a band that was way ahead of it's time. Also The Monks, who were totally f#@ked up.
Stuff spinning in my PC at work Pawnshop 'broke' - much more rock than their last 2. Cog 'pseudo' Hermano 'only a suggestion' Pawnshop 'cruise-o-matic'

Ha got you thinking hey Spectator ! ? - missed a good gig the other night ya drunkard. Who was it you thought I was?, and how do you know I'm really dead?? I might have gone and done an Elvis! All the Scientists back catalogue should be compulsory listening - The best thing Hank Rollins ever said was that "Kim Salmon should be an Australian institution" or words to that effect. - Petty about Hank tho!! Hey goo, if you dig Sean Bonniwell's Music Machine (did whacko jacko copy his idea of one glove??), try the Electric Prunes' 'I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night' LP, or the UK comps of 'Chocolate Soup For Diabetics' - awesome freakbeat psych. Also worth chasing up are the US compilations of 'Beyond the Calico Wall' and 'Turds On A Bum Ride' - hard to find, but worth it. Must go now, I've got to go try out my new hair shirt. ;D

, Thanks for the tip goo, I am already well aware of who The Scientists are. To date I only have the tracks that appear on the "Do The Pop" compilation, but their stuff is definetly on my wish list. Check yer e-mail trace cause I know who you are...Have yer still got the porno-mo and the crazy cowboy hat? Anyhow yer woke up the Nick Cave side of my brain so Iggy has left the building (for a very little while he'll be back) and... Hee-Haw - THE BIRTHDAY PARTY (Well one Highbeam band really dug this album and so they fucking should it rocks. Classic tracks such as Mr.Clarinet, Happy Birthday, The Friend Catcher and of course The Hair Shirt. This album is a life changing experience) Let Love In - NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS (After last nights self-inflicted annihilation I just had to here "Thirsty Dog"...I hope that Hair Shirt fits good trace cause I'm hanging to see it ;D
