VOLUME
Taking their queue from Monster Magnet, Blue Cheer, The Stooges & Hawkwind among others, VOLUME describe their music best as heavy acid rock, drawing inspiration from a time when rock n' roll was truly experimental and free.The end result of this potent blend can be heard within 'Requesting Permission To Land', the band's debut CD release which is a five track, 34 minute, psychedelic, fuzzfest freakout.The ep is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 7" of 1998.The band play this year’s Stoner Hands Of Doom Festival in November.
'Requesting Permission To Land' is out now on High Beam.
The ep will be released later in the year in North America on Madroad Records.

LEGENDS OF MOTORSPORT
Times are busy for Melbourne’s LEGENDS OF MOTORSPORT, having just wrapped up their tour of SA, VIC, NSW and QLD in support of their ep release ‘Beef With Cheese’ they now head to their original home of Tasmania in September.The band have been getting rave reviews of their live show and great reviews of the ep have been flowing in, the ep has also reached as high as number 3 on the Australian Independent Record Labels sales chart.If you want to catch one of Australia’s most exciting rock n roll band’s in September they play the following shows :

SHIFTER
From one great rock n roll band to another, SHIFTER’s new ep which is set for release in October was described by leading Australian rock journalist, Murray Engleheart as ‘it’s gonna set ears on end with it’s wild Stooges and dirty era Stones raunch attack’.The five track release hit’s the stores on Monday October 21st and will be available a little earlier on-line.The band will hit the road in Australia around the release date of the ep and will continue to play plenty of shows over the Australian summer.International releases of the ep are currently in the pipeline, we’ll let you know more details of these when we know more.If you haven’t heard the mighty sounds of SHIFTER yet, make sure you download their mp3 of the track ‘Funnel’ at :

POD PEOPLE
With their latest album ‘Doom Saloon’ out and about now and attracting plenty of praise, POD PEOPLE will be back in live mode for shows in October and November including a spot on Australia’s largest metal festival, Metal For The Brain.If you haven’t done so already make sure you pick up a copy of the album which has been rated by many as one of this year’s best doom releases.It will be released in the next few months in Europe/UK/Japan on Rise Above Records.

JED WHITEY
The West Australian Music Industry Association have chosen JED WHITEY to perform at their opening night party.The loudest, most rock and obviously greatest band from the west hit the stage for the event on Thursday September 5th at the Hyde Park Hotel, also playing on the night are Jebediah.The band are also included on the WAMI cd that is available now.JED WHITEY’s latest album ‘Mongoloid Cagematch’ is out now on High Beam.

NUNCHUKKA SUPERFLY
The European release of their latest album ‘There Are No Accidents....’ on Lunasound has been slightly delayed due to some production delay’s.Keep an eye on the Lunasound website at www.lunasoundrecording.com for details of an exact release date.

LOG
LOG are confirmed for this year’s Metal For The Brain which takes place in Canberra on Saturday November 9th, they will hit the studio’s shortly to begin work on the follow up to ‘1O Songs Of Log’.

HEE HAW
Work is now complete on the debut ep from HEE HAW titled ‘How To Pay Your Debt’s When You’re A Genius’.The highly anticipated five track release will be out in October.The trio have been compared to everyone from Birthday Party and Joy Division through to Big Black and Nirvana.You can download an mp3 of the track ‘Famous Last Words’ at :

MONSTROUS BLUES
After a well received Victorian tour in early August and a great run of shows recently with Legends Of Motorsport these guys are firing in the live arena at the moment and they continue this month with a bunch of shows with Brisbane’s Budd.Check the High Beam site for details.The band’s debut full length album will be out late November/ early December.Stay tuned for previews on the High Beam site and at their own website which can be found at www.monstrousblues.cjb.net

Prepare for some classic doom as DRAGONAUTA deliver to you ‘Luciferatu’.We expect the release date to be towards the end of the year.Catch the band as they play shows around there home country of Argentina over the next few months.

All great news. Other than Thumlock, this has been an awesome year for HB. Looking forward to the Hee Haw, Shifter, Sh'mantra, Monstrous Blues and Dragonauta releases. Very much looking forward to more touring from the Fly!
