ARMS OF KISMET Eponymous (Wampus Multimedia) If, like the bio suggests, Arms of Kismet represent the new breed of alternative rock, then I prefer the old breed – whatever that was! For Arms of Kismet is nothing to write home about, or indeed nothing to write a review about. Trying to sound like Bob Dylan and/or Tom Petty mainman Mark Doyon comes across more like Adam Sandler in ‘The Wedding Singer’. Flat melodies, bland structures, poor production and dulled imagination makes this one unexciting disc, worthy of little more than a passing glance. And despite what one may think, I truly do not enjoy slamming someone’s passion – for Doyon has obviously poured his heart into this release – but I would be untruthful and unethical if I said there was anything good about this Eponymous. Proclaiming himself as the ‘alchemist of postmodern American pop’ does little to further his cause, and only adds to my disdain for such tripe. Truly unremarkable in all aspects.
