LYMPH OF WISDOOM Promo 2003 (demo)
This well produced demo delivers some pretty diverse doom in the short space of four songs. ‘Revenge’ starts things off with a dense instrumental passage, before featuring some strong, vibrato-laden soprano vocals. ‘Fate’s Will’ is an up-tempo, heavy riffing tune that kicks on with some 80’s metal intensity. The song shifts through a number of tempo changes and plenty of atonal guitar squeals, before ending a thunderous 3-D death metal growl. This Italian trio takes a metal slanted approach to their cover of the Pentagram doom classic, ‘Forever My Queen’. The vocals are heavy on the reverb and manage to successfully capture the vibe of Bobby Liebling’s uncomplicated vocal delivery. ‘Cold As Winter’ trudges by with deliberate and bitterly absolute doom, with vocals ranging from soaring soprano wails, to subtle guttural growls. As the lumbering tune picks up the tempo, it gradually breaks into a swinging bottom heavy groove, which is helped along by some dueling bluesy guitar soloing.
