The DEXATEENS

The Dexateens aren't exactly the easiest band to explain here goes: For the most part they are a country rock version of Nebula. Now don't go thinking you are going to hear a stoned version of Slim Dusty or Willie Nelson. The Dexateens are fast paced rock/punk with stoner hooks. Their guitar sound is that noisy, electric hillbilly rock sound which is gaining in popularity at the moment. Often during the album you hear little snippets that remind you of Southern American 70's rock put through a power generator.
The 13 tracks on the album go pretty quickly, mostly averaging 3 minutes long. Not only does the guitar remind me of a hillbilly version of Nebula, but the vocals for the most part as well. The Dexateens are listed as Tri-guitar rock. I assume this means no bass? Either way it doesn't make too much difference as the album rocks pretty hard.
The Dexateens will appeal to people from numerous genres' including stoner, noisy rock, hillbilly rock and punk. If you like any of these styles then definitely check out the album or when they are on tour in Australia in September. It took me a couple of listens to get into it but it's definitely a cool album worthy of a few listens.
