BOMB THE DAY NURSERY Discipline Through Mental-Illness (Cold Meat Industry) CMI123 An early incarnation of Brighter Death Now, Discipline Through Mental-Illness is a self-confessed primitive piece of noise with the gothic undertones expected from Cold Meat. Recorded many moons ago, Discpiline was originally self-produced, self-released and self-promoted and as such serves more as an historical piece for modern day fans of BDN, rather than a quality recording on it’s own. Indeed the recording is raw, hugely inspired by industrial noise and found sounds that seem to leave little affect upon the listener, other than annoyance at times (specificall ‘Mental Health by Self-Destruiction’). ‘Learning by Killing’ brings in a quasi-beat, which is somewhat similar to Twitch’s work in the late 90’s; that is a layered noise, distorted and tooled with to make less sense of it all. Certainly Cold Meat fanatics will understand this more than a casual observer like myself, and I would discourage a Cold Meat first-timer from this recording as it is not indicative of the post-industrial the label is known for. Rather, as mentioned, Discipline is for the fans and followers of BDN’s many altar-egos. by Warren Wheeler Artist website: www.brighterdeathnow.com/Label website: www.coldmeat.se/home.htmlDownload this album: www.coldmeat.se/home.html
