BRACE Before You Begin (Chatterbox) Being a big fan of Henry’s Anger I was very interested to hear Brace. HA fell apart a couple of years ago starting with the leaving of singer Jamie, then drummer Matt. Since then remaining members Paddy and Rod (guitar/bass) have rejoined with Jamie and found a new drummer and keyboardist. At first I thought this was a rather bland, weaker continuation of HA, but after a few listens it grew on me. New drummer Tim Munk does an adequate job of taking over from Matt, while the keyboards are mostly just some effects and atmospheric samples, giving Brace a fuller, more rounded sound. While the EP is not quite as heavy as HA, it’s definitely equally catchy. It’s nice to hear Jamie back singing with these guys too. For those who do not remember HA or haven’t heard Brace I guess you could say they are a mature sounding hard rock/metal band, with some heavy riffs and grooves and a touch of melody thrown in for good measure. A good EP worth checking out even if you weren’t a HA fan. By Nathan Peauril Artist Website: www.bracemusic.com/Label Website: www.chatterboxrecords.com/Buy this album: n/a
