considering this show was advertised as MCFM/Maydays/Slinkee/Turnarounds I'm not quite sure what happened - must have got the flu go through them never mind MCFM were pretty good the cheerleaders were a nice touch and very Spod-ish. Funny name for a band, little birdie told me that it stands for "More Crap For the Masses", singer sounded good and had a piercing high note happening
So as we sit at the bar the opening chords to Strychnine Girl start and we start thinkin, wait a minute, this isn't the YMCA*, and lo and behold its Warped blasting out a set. Blasting being the operative word, rendering the soundman redundant and shaking a roof tile out of its cosy little hiding spot, the Rock Action was in full effect. I lost count of the number of times lightning boy gave out with a high kick and all the other boys were in fine form too. Think they played mostly stuff off their last album with some newies, it was kind of hard to tell because of the sheer volume that these guys play at. To know where they have come from would give you a fair indication of why volume becomes the most important thing in the Warped arsenal.
On to the Devilrock 4, they look like they've been playing in cover bands for the last few years but looks and sounds are two different things, these guys are very good and do lean towards the Detroit via Sweden school of rock n roll - which is a good thing for me anyway. Spent most of the night trying to figure out where the hell I'd seen that drummer before (i think its Fez Perez's old drummer??) Didn't catch any song names but well, if these gents are playing near ya check em out cos they are a fine sounding band. And as the night winds down everyone goes to cherry and things get very much blacker after that....
*All you simpsons fans out there will know what I mean
