I have only seen 2 gigs at the Brisbane entertainment centre. Kyuss and Metallica in 93 and Tool last year.
Kyuss blew my mind and ultimately is the reason im writing this on this message board. Metallica and Tool both came off very clinical and sounded good but just had no heart. No one seemed to really get into it.
I was saying to FGM before the show i wasn't sure why i bothered coming. Well im bloody glad i did.
We were treated to a great show. Lots of heart, everyone got into it and it was a really fantastic performance.
The sound was brilliant and for me was at a perfect level. They only used about half the centre which made it a nicer closer feel.
I was expecting like most major singers that Chris would not sound half as good live as on the album. I was dead wrong, he sounded great and had a good live presence. The rage guys were brilliant too, Tom Morrello is the guitar version of Les Claypool. Some of his live solos were sounds i've never heard from a guitar before.
They played all but one song off the album. And played 1 new track, and 3 covers. Chris did a solo acoustic cover too.
Anyway without going on about crap, it was a bloody good gig.
Ps. i know some people here like warped but yet again i thought they were shithouse. They went on with their bullshit antics as usual and failed to impress anyone.

You pretty much echo my sentiments Writhe. Audioslave were awesome! Warped once again failed to impress me. Their sound was really muddy which I think was a result of them thinking they had to have all their levels cranked to 10.

Didn't realise you guys were there, should have guessed but eh?!
Hell yeah, Audioslave were amazing. I missed both RATM and Soundgarden when they toured, so this was like me catching up. But really as a band Audioslave were shithot in their own right. Not a combo of Rage and Soundgarden, just a great polished band. I bumped into a mate afterwards and he said they lacked energy and intencity. Don't know who he was watching, I thought they kicked arse!
As for Warped, bah! I saw them at the Gabba and they pharkin sucked arse (so much so a mate tried to kick the shit out of their panel van, not that I condone that kind of behaviour, even for really shit bands). How did they get that support? I could think of heaps of bands better suited. Our little group stayed outside at the bar until they finished so the night wouldn't be tainted by their bollocks rock god shit.
As far as Audioslave goes, well, I have a new god and his name is Tom. As I said later, "It was good, and I liked it."
(what was with Chris' solo acoustic number, sounds a little you-know-what to me, not that there's anything wrong with that!)

I thought that Chris' solo acoustic cover sounded familiar to my ears. I found out it was a cover of an old Brinsley Schwarz tune.

Saw Audioslave in Sydney my missus had a +5 on the door as the last show was totally undersold. I'm not a fan of the album and live they didn't really change my mind. The mix was unbelievable and Chris sang better than he did in the few times i saw Soundgarden, but i was bored shitless. Warped were better than the last time i saw them, but not as good as the earlier gigs........sounds like the record company has been in there ear. One of the new songs even sounded like the fucking Vines? !!!!!!

Shit have Warped been dropped? ? They are landing some pretty big gigs for an unsigned band then. I thought a couple of the new songs were pretty good, but one in particular was easily the worst thing they have ever done. Acouple of the others were very average as well.......my 2 cents

no they weren't dropped, they left FMR on their own accord. apparently they weren't doing anything for them.
i think they have some new rec. label interest though and are going to the US and japan in june.

ive had a lot of the new songs for a quite a while and really like them. can't remember the vines sounding song though. i'm thinking that this record will be quite diverse in comparison to 'on the make' and will take a few listens to get used to it, they even have a slide guitar blues-y number on there. i also don't think warped are suited to play in these larger venues, to me they've always sounded a lot better in smaller places like the excelsior, annandale etc. anyway, just my opinion.
