well slightly more people than usual at the tote tonight and good to see too, great bill up for the seeing. Timid Joe got off to a very traditional start and continued to power through the Nebula type stoner fuzz they are known for. String breakage barely slows down the monster, as the reserve gtr gets just the same hammering as ol' faithful. Some of the endings of songs seemed a bit sketchy at times but maybe thats the way they are supposed to be?? One song gets introduced as a ballad, then about 20 seconds into it its straight onto the fullon rock again Special mention to the bass player for being the consummate bassplayer - he had it all, the short head nods, the disinterested looks, the "lookin everywhere but at the audience", classic stuff
back room was bloody packed as Rollerball got on stage, i think its either the Junior that's attracting all these young ladies or that suave rock demigod behind the kit. Or maybe its the stoned vapors wafting through the crowd, who knows, only that the 'Ball ripped into Loungeroom Lifer and straight up you could tell they were on a good one tonight, Lake of life, Next to you, tons more off their album (Daisy Chain, Commodity, oh bloody heaps of em) and guitarist doesn't let up with the hair flinging rock and roll action. Every song they played it seemed to get better and better. Encore time saw heaps of support for Evie, and they ended up closing the night up with a rockin version of that tune that had hands in the air in appreciation. Some people may have even been waving them like they just didn't care too, again, difficult to tell
the only let down was the attituded of a couple of audience members who didn't seem to be there for fun, only for another purpose......their loss for it was a great gig by the Ball and sure sign they are pulling more people and getting some well deserved popularity without being crap ;D
