Review of "Expand your Senses" at Club 77 on 23/3/02
The Glee Club Chilled, soulful grooves turning into solid, funky rock grooves and magnificent soloing and lead breaks. Let your hair down and let them take you on a ride. These guys are Sydney's new kings and queens of Rock/pop, playing with true style and soul. Give them another 12 months and they'll have been picked up by a label. Tight, awesome and fun, watchable and danceable, these guys rock!
Blatherskite A completely unrelenting assault on the senses. Epic soundscapes shifting from images of transcendant beauty to brutal, head=fucking destruction. The video screen footage chaos brings your vision to the same insane dreamscapes that their music does to your ears. Experimental and original, Blatherskite may still be finding their feet somewhat, but in many moments those feet are firmly planted right in their audience's trembling faces. Have to be seen to be believed.
Jekyll Switch Sinister Industrial Cyberpunk says it all. From the first eerie keyboard noises to the last screeching distorted note, these guys evoke a nightmarish vision of the future with their wall of noise approach, combined with some truly sinister atmospherics and moements of machine soul angst. Intense and provoking, let them replace your inefficient human senses with the silicone future and find your happiness in slavery.
All in all, an AWESOME FUCKING NIGHT.
