I thought it was a great night. Very fun and most people where very tanked. Thought Timid Joe and Stiff meat blew the Dern away. Sad to see them go despite a very predictable last gig (can't blame em). 'more!' 'more!' oncore!

i rekon you can blame 'em. bitter twisted old cunts. yeah they rock but what's with this holy than every one else in the venue shit? no thanks for going to see them every week for six years? no thanx for buying the music/merch? just a great big "we made no cash out of this band so give us your $15 and fuck off". great band, poor form.

I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has ever been to a dern show/ bought merch or helped in any way. I would also like to thank all the bands for playing that night, it was much appreciated going out with friends. "holier than everyone else in the venue?" i doubt it mate. what you where seeing was a band wondering why people cared so much, and not knowing what to say, said nothing or if we did (in my case) made tastless jokes, as i frequently do, again not out of disrespect but to lighten an otherwise heavy situation. but we are by no means bitter and twisted about dern, we loved it and are thankfull that we got to do all the shit we did. I think if most people had been ripped off as much as dern has they would feel a whole lot more bitter than us. im not cryin' about it either thats just the way shit goes i guess. so..in conclusion sorry you didnt get your thank you on the night...

although previously unaware of the dern rutlidge love/hate relationship, on the night i did get the feeling that dern have pretty much gone unappreciated by a lot of people over the last few months of their existence. a few people i spoke to who claim to truly love the dern relayed to me that many a listener at the last gig have been consistently absent for their last few shows. someone thought it was hillarious that there was crowd surfing going on, apparently it was a first. pitty it was their last show. if that sort of enthusiasm was shown at past shows maybe they wouldn't have broken up. but im just speaking shit, i cant claim to know this scene, thats just the feeling i picked up. thats my rant anyway

Yeah, well when they come to Warrnambool there was a lot of crowd surfing going on. I think people in Melbourne or big city's, are a bit wary of crowd surfin and shit cos they don't know who they are going to upset. For all they know the person that they upset could be carrying a gun, you just never know or a knife for that matter. Where as in the counrty people know that they are pretty safe cos everyone know's everyone if you know what i mean. Do any of you punk fuckers agree. ;D ;D ;D

Ohh yeah, when was that??? it was probably me, nar but in all honesty people in the city are more reserved about crowd surfin than in the counrty. ;D ;D ;D

depends where you go... i went and saw frankie j holden and wilbur wilde at highpoint shopping centre and the crowd went fuckin off. we even had a pair of incontinence pants stage dive at one point. you think it's bad when a big fat metal head crowd surfs, ever tried to hold a fat grannie in a wheelchair. not easy. i've still got briuses from that gig - the guy next to me had his eye out on a walking frame...... nasty stuff

Cockjunkie, youve brought a tear to my eye Seriously though, it was a good show from the Dern boys, all the usual ingredients were there. The only dissappointing thing I found was that it was no different to any other gig theyve played, they didnt plan anything special. I dunno what that wouldve been but maybe if they hadda cut the number of bands back to 3 on the night and had more time to play a bunch more tracks, possibly even had a "new" track to play on the night, I'm pretty sure they couldve whipped up something along those lines had they prepared/put more thought into it. Personally I want to thank them blokes for all the gigs they played, the cool shit they recorded and generally all the shit that mustve gone into keeping that band together for as long as they were. Yeah its definitely a let down that theyve fallen by the wayside, everyone seemed to have the idea that this band could be the one to go that bit further (or was it just me?) but if its over then thats it I guess. Cheers to Callan, Spaz, Fuller and Craig (and Riiiick, Bexy and Rob) for the good times (and I mean that in the most non-homosexual way possible...)

I saw Derrick J at Carribbean Gardens, and almost lost an eye. After extensive micro-surgery I had my sternum put back in. Heck, the violence was astounding. Anyone who's been to a Derrick J gig knows what I'm talkin bout.
