I've been waiting for this cd for a long time. When it came out on LP 1-2 years ago i knew enough of the songs to know i wanted it. I even emailed Jeb to see if he could get it on CD.
Finally it comes out on cd.
I must say my first impression was slight disapointment. It seems the guitar sound is slightly more fuzzed and less heavy than all the previous recordings of these songs. (from compilations etc) Especially 'the finger'
But pretty quickly i've warmed up to the new sound and think this cd kicks some arse! Theres still a part of me that wants the old sound etc But the new one is pretty good too.
I think i just hate hearing a song i really like redone. Much like Fu Manchus redoing of mongoose.
Initially the better tracks i've picked out are: 'Right on through' 'Bad ass rising' 'the finger' 'blackout driver'
Riggs's vocals seem a lot stronger on this album than Nationwide.
If you like stonerish fairly heavy guitar rock that you can really get into, try having a listen to this cd.

i bought this cd a while ago and have been playing it non-stop since (its great driving music). they really titled the album well, its definitely 'rawk n roll' and ill agree with writhe on those stand out tracks. there's some roadsaw guys in another band as well called 'quitter' who have an EP out - less 'rawk' but still rock.

Cool i'll have to check it out. Got a website?
And yeah Rawk n roll is good to drive to but then again, what stoner music isnt good to drive to.

Sounds a little like Monster Magnet. Its that kinda poppy stoner rock that ive never really got into much. The singing kinda reminds me of something that would get the shit played out of it on crappy Australian Radio. Something like triple M in brisbane.

Any of the tracks on this album as good as 'Keep on Sailing'? That track off Nationwide is killer, yet it seems to me the rest of the album tries to get to that standard but doesn't quite make it. Still a good CD though, How does the new one compare?

I think its a shitload better, nationwide is good but at times it shits me a lot. This is everything nationwide should have been.

Rawk n Roll is essential! Its plain and simple good time music. It doesnt break any new ground but then again Roadsaw dont seem to be trying for that direction. Theyve stuck to what they do best, and just improved on that. Theres only one dud track on this album, the rest is Roadsaw at their best.

Which one do you consider the dud?

Speaking of the re-recording songs issue...I think the version of "Blackout Driver" on here shits on the version from the In the Groove comp, so it can go both ways.
