"Prime Minister John Howard will today present evidence he claims will prove terrorist groups are seeking weapons of mass destruction, as he tries to build public support for a war to disarm Iraq."
Wonder where the evidence was? he has avoided/side stepped basically every question asked to him about it?

They're all full of shit. But even if there was, what has terrorists seeking WMDs got to do with any war on Iraq? F.A., unless of course it's proven Iraq would give them to them, which it hasn't been, and probably won't be. the 7.30 report tripped howard up real good last week. the question was thus: if Osama Bin Laden desired WOMaDs, and there was a direct link with Iraq, and Iraq have WOMaDs, why haven't al-Qaeda been able to get said WOMaDs?
there was a lot of umming and ahhing but no real answer....
now... if this war was about WOMaDs, why is Bush's only demand that Hussein exile within 48hrs? Could not Hussein 'disarm' in 48hrs and settle the dispute?

There is an interesting article here: www.fair.org/press-releases/ultimatum.html about a key line in the speech that the media seemed to miss, or ignore. The line is "It is not too late for the Iraqi military to act with honor and protect your country by permitting the peaceful entry of coalition forces to eliminate weapons of mass destruction." Make up your own minds.

also funny and a bit of the classic, 'double standard', is the breach of the Geneva convention with the new US POW's being filmed in a humiliating situation in Iraqi hands.... - while a good 800 or so Al Queda POW's (well it was a war wasn't it?) from Afghanistan, remain shackled, blind folded and caged up literally in Guantanimo bay, cuba. Bushes latest statment went along the lines of... 'We expect the enemy to treat our soldiers as we do with theirs'. hmmmm....

yeah as for the camp x-ray POW's - Bush's excuse was they weren't 'war criminals' - despite saying that s11 was an 'act of war'.
but perhaps more relevant is the fact that i clearly saw iraqi POW's all huddled together and one got up to ask to pray. he was given permission which is great. my point is that the US are happy to show their POW's.
additionally, Bush has said that if Iraq mistreat the POW's then they will be considered 'war criminals'. interesting considering the US is completely absolved of any 'war criminal' allegations as they have opted out of the ICC. how can they use a court they do not support in order to charge a regime but ignore the court when the charges are laid against you?

Would they use that court though, or try them in the US?
That would be my guess.
And yeah, it doesn't get much more hypocritical, well, it does, and they will.
