What did evryone think ?? i rekon it was a bit of alright. What can i say the giants were awersome! best gig ive been to for some time. the standard of bands that played was very impressive. Aspasia 'fukin' rock' as it says in the toilets i tend to agree. Fort Mary sounded great up front and Timid Joe were amazing as usual (the bass rocked!!) then the giants didnt disapoint playing an awersome set to a packed arthouse.. .
fukin yeah!

I recently re-located to Melbourne uni I was at Griffith in Brisbane for two years and I've been to about 50 Giants gigs and some amzing Brissy Livid's. I saw Giants at the Arthouse and I went to Livid yesterday and it fuckin struck me!!!!! Giants rocked so much harder at a little pub, you could tell they were way into it, but at Livid it was lost. Don't get me wrong its not the band its that Melbourne Livid was so tame. Its sad when 'rock is in safe hands'. Is this just me or is the corporate music machine killing eveything (again) ?

The corporate music machine is sharpening it's teeth on the bones of bands it has destroyed in the past, and preparing itself for the "new rock" feast. It'll gorge itself on any half talented bands it can find, and then move on...back to r & b where it belongs.

the giants of science were fucking lame. as soon as i thought they were getting it together they'd break into yet another soft-cock, verging on melody type number. thank fuck timid joe played as their set was consistently rockin'. thanks fuck... thanks a lot.

Yeah fuck yeah i've seen Nebula a couple of times and Timid Joe in my opinion are better just cos there from Melbourne and Nebula are from the states does not mean they are not better i think Timid Joe have got the potential to be a hugh rock band i think they are very professional the way they go about it. so there is my answer....

I really do think GoS are a good band. It is a bit much to dissmiss them as fucking lame!! Sometimes their live performances are a bit hit and miss (as with any band really...), so maybe they didn't deliver one of the best performances. I do agree that Timid Joe are a great band. When are these cats coming up to Brisbane? How about it hey!!

, yes I too find it odd that the Giants of Science are now fucking lame. I saw them about a month ago at the SHX and found them to be in fine form. I really enjoyed the new tunes and if anything thought they had veered more toward a rock angle but still managed to maintain the melodic dynamic that made them so good in the first place. No I can't believe they were THAT bad, unless of course people have ridiculiously high expectations of them. I'll second FGM here and say that perhaps they had a MISS rather than HIT gig. My 5c has been spent

okay, that might have been a bit harsh. it's just my opinion that they "weren't that good". maybe they were just having an off night and i'll have to see them again before i start hurling the 'fucking lame' remarks. sorry kids....(jen crawls back in to her box).

Horny Heidi I'm not sure what your talking about. what made it safe, if your talking about safety for the punters then at the risk of sounding totally lame I dont really see why that could be a bad thing. How could coporations influence bands to "play it safe" when up on stage. I like Giants I've only seen them once but they were good but Heidi what you say seems interesting I just need you to explain more exactly

Hey Slatts, Glad to oblige. I was quoting a previous post that referred to media saying "rock was in safe hands" with this or that band. Its a reference to rock is back as if we needed the media to tell us that.Melbourne Livid was a very controlled affair ( not the band) Its the wrong environment for ace bands like Giants, and I guess I was saying that ironically a pub is where rock comes alive. Giants played to more people at the Arthouse than they did opening main stage in the arena and the sound sucked. P.S.By the way there are many ways corporations coerce bands to play it safe. But thats a different point and no-one could accuse Giants of succumbing to that!
