Theee gig to be at by the looks of things. New Zealands "Hellacopters" didn't disappoint, at least they didn't disappoint me cos I was fucked off my head.
Hopefully they'll survive the "nu-rock" stigma (another gem from Fleshpeddler) cos there's too much hype about these dudes already. "dolf" (Datsun frontperson ) said they are going over to the U.K. for a showcase industry thing. Thats usually a death sentence. They'll miss the heady days of playing the Tote ! Pub rock rules !

Yes Yes, i was lucky enough to see two of the Datsuns songs as it was sold out. I thought they were pretty fucking cool too. Yep they reminded me of the Hellacopters which is a good thing. At the time i was thinking what a big label thought was it cos they actually do rock out or was it a money thing??? then i thought nar it's a money thing sad but true hey. ;D ;D

If anything when I saw the Datsuns a couple of weeks ago, I was more impressed with the Cassanovas. These guys are Kiss meets AC/DC all the way!
I think that there is better reference points for the Datsuns than the Hellacopters though??

Caught the Datsuns/Casanovas/Specimens line-up on Thursday @ The Barwon Club & Saturday @ The Tote & had a fuckin' blast both nights ;D The Datsuns & Casanovas were on fire & The Specimens, while maybe a tad nervous @ The B.C. were a lot more relaxed @ The Tote & put in a rockin' set ;D The Datsuns & Hellacopters may have similar influences, but I don't reckon they sound anything like each other. Ain't it funny how two or more people listening to the same piece of music can interpret it so differently

that my friend is what music is all about. each person takes what they want from each and every moment of music - that's why it's so powerful and personal and inspiring and exciting. two people listening to the exact same song can hear totally different things. fuck i love music.
