First of all i have to say i have never seen such a huge crowd for (stoner) rock in Brisbane. I was there fairly early but the place was already hot and sweaty with limited room. (Especially near the bar)
Lovejoy were just about finishing as i got there. They sounded pretty interesting and i'll have to catch them again.
Intercooler were professional but a bit too poppy rock for my liking.
Giants had a good solid gig, not the best ive seen though. The old tracks seemed to go down well and a couple of the new ones also sounded pretty good.
Rollerball had a few initial sound problems mainly with the vocals. It all suddenly seemed to click into gear for the new single lifetime. From then on it was a great show, a good mix of the new, medium and old songs.
For those down south, you should be looking forward to a good gig.
The new album is great, im really getting into it. Despite it really not being much like lost is space which i have to say is the best ep ever!

Headlands Hotel unfortunately has been forced into closing it's doors to live music again (lack of fire exits apparently). Looks like Club77 will be the closest place to catch this line-up...

"First of all i have to say i have never seen such a huge crowd for (stoner) rock in Brisbane" Gee Writhe I don't mean to be rude or nothin, but Brisbane has always been a great host to "stoner" rock. What about Rollerball,Green Steam, System 13 at the Zoo or the Giants launch at same ( that was huge) or Rollerball,Dread,System13 at the Normanby Tavern OR Forte, Double Chamber, Fulcrim and Rollerball at Bonapartes ? That was something.
Are you listening to rock or living under one ?

while i was at 3 of the 4 above gigs i can honestly say that when i walked in and saw how packed the zoo was, its definitely the best turn out ive seen. Two friends of mine actually went home early because they couldn't stand the crown and how hot it was inside.

Heidi I was probably at all of those gigs you mentioned, but believe me Writhe was right when he said that the Zoo was packed!!
The crowd at the launch of Giants of Science's ep didn't even rate compared to the crowd at the Zoo on Friday night for the Caravan of Courage!! The Zoo sold out very early on in the night and there was an awesome vibe on Friday night. Everybody was so anxious to see a very cool line-up of bands play to a packed house.
I have been at the Zoo before when it has 'sold out' and I am pretty conifident that there was actually a few more people squeezed into the venue on Friday night.
You must also remember that on the same night You Am I and The Butterfly Effect were also playing at two seperate venues in Brisbane. No doubt these two bands would have also stolen some of the potential crowd numbers at the Zoo as well!! Oh yeah and you can't forget Euro Death Metallers Destruction who were playing at the Gabba Hotel!!

Destruction, now there is a band I should have seen. Mad Butcher has gotta be one of the funniest albums I've heard...

Okay I stand corrected, the shows I mentioned probably weren't sold out ( I wouldn't know about those kinda industry statistics). I guess I'm jealous I wasn't there....... I gotta stop spending so much time with Maxi.
