Dolls of Damnation demo
Swedens’ Dolls of Damnation kick off their demo with a nice, heavy riff similar to recent Orange Goblin, while the vocals sound very much like Scissorfight's Ironlung. 'The Willow Tree' starts with a typical stoner/doom intro before a dirty eurostoner riff slices its way through your speakers. Electric Wizard crossed with The Awesome Machine might be a vague way of explaining this track.
The first half of track 3, 'Rise and Deny' is a very doomy dirge, breaking into a fast paced early 90's style metal section, complete with an almost early-Sepultura style, slowing it down with a sliding riff. 'Workhorses' is another heavy Scissorfight style track with a touch of southern rock style guitar.
The drum sound is nice and heavy and there are some cool guitar tones as well. The demo as a whole is pretty polished and is probably better than most albums. The only thing I found annoying were the odd trademark late 80's/early 90's metal clichés. Otherwise the demo really clicked with me and I'll be keeping my eye out for more from this Swiss band.
