The legends of motorsport played the gabba hotel last night with the aampirellas and the dirtcatchers.
I must say this gig was only saved from being a complete disaster by the impressive efforts of legends!
Turning up at the venue at 9pm to be greeted by nobody except the owners (who were watching the flinstones on the telly) started the alarm bells ringing but when Legends turned up shortly after (they had been held up in traffic) my concerns reduced.
the dirtcatchers who were playing first didn't bother to show up until 10-30 and were not recieved well by the owners as they were supposed to start playing at 9. Once they did start playing the singer was so fired up that they only performed 4 songs and he ended the set by throwing the drummer's snare off the stage! lets say the 4 songs that they did play were by no means spectacular in my opinion were not worth the effort.
the next disaster occured when the aampirellas were all set to play but discovered there was a problem - no dummer! I'm not sure what happened but Dom didn't show until 11 - but lets say when they did start thier set it was, as always worth it. They played a lot of new material but pulled out the old favs for good measure.
Up last the legends of motorsport came to the rescue and saved the night with an awsome set. Having never seen them before I was extremely impressed by the quality of thier performance and how well they were able to rock the crowd into a frenzy! Legends rocked it hard with thier animated stage antics (i loved the guitarist's bum wiggle), mega down tuned guitars and well worked keys. All together they put on an excellent performance and I must say that I am now a full converted legends fan!
