...so I'm still reeling from seeing Hee Haw, Dropping Honey and Traces of Nut at Club77 on Thursday. Traces of Nut went Nuts and brought smiles to the dials of the Dropping Honey lads with a cover of "Fascination Street" by the Cure and then Dropping Honey throw up sonic walls of melodic melancholy and end of nicely with a Syd Barret period Pink Floyd tune, then Hee Haw decide to make their set one whole feedback piece, Lax Charisma swings off the lights up front and then returns for a Sisters of Mercy cover and "The Human Zoo"....That was Thursday...
The cones are going nicely, the beer is chilled and the pills haven't kicked in yet and Elysium are going off at The Oxford Tavern and there are solos aplenty and heaps of energy but get yer filthy hands off that whammy bar because yer boring me shitless and making me crave Van Halen all at the same time. Monstrous Blues are cranking it and sounding fucking huge and somewhere in the middle of "Being King" the pills kick in and I'm riding those fucking riffs to god knows fucking where but shit it was fun and then El Sanchez are riding the cowbell and singing about never coming down and a chic called Lizzy and the walls are shaking and the beer is going down faster and then The Legends of Motorsport are ripping through all of those glorious riffs I know off the Beef With Cheese e.p. and I remember standing near the front of the stage and shaking my head in time to "Cream" and then calling for "RX7" and them saying they would play if someone would sing and I wanted to but all I could think was fuck this machine and now this morning with the sun beaming on my window I'm thinking it's never quite enough and I'm heading to The Excelsior in Surry Hills for another dose Of Legendary Monsters of Blue Motorsports and someone else opening the show and another beer, another bong another pill, another....
Fucking great night
