The month of May got started with a shitload of noise at the Healer. Put on by Dr. Gaz the gig featured Bollas, Fulcrum, Godnose (or The Nose) and Slowburner, fronted by Dr Gaz himself (and his marvellous hair).
I arrived in time to catch the tail end of Bollas who, well they had good riffs. Sorry guys but ya didn't really do much for me. Seen better, seen worse.
Is it just me or are Fulcrum getting better, and better, and better! Doublechamber's been gigging with these guys for years, sharing a bass player and all, and I honestly think they're playing better than ever. Not blowing smoke up your arse boys but you were damn good, even if you couldn't hear it yourself. I was doing the guitar tech thing for Owen and the sound on the side of stage was horrible, so I sat out the front for a song or two and it was huge! It was good, and I liked it. Included in the set was Den of Slack, an oldie reworked and sounding great and a 5 Bucks Till Friday, a newy and I title I came up with. (It's mine owen, MINE!)
Unfortunately I pissed off early to catch up with sleep so I only caught the start of Godnose's set, sorry lads. Apologies also to Dr Gaz, I will catch you guys soon, maybe someone else can fill me in.
Thursday was a great night (at least the bits I caught), so why were their so few people at the Healer? Brisbane has to get its shit together or we're gunna lose these great bands.

Bollas weren't my cup of tea if you get my meaning. Fulcrum on the other hand were awesome as per usual. I loved hearing the guys play 'Ol' Man Of The Desert' - that's such a cool tune! I had to leave early as well, but I have already had the good fortune of seeing newcomers to the scene Slowburner once before. Dr Gaz's vocals sound a lot like the vocalist from Budgie. Slowburner's drummer used to be in System 13 and boy does he know the value of a good drum solo. Last time I saw them play Slowburner's vocalist Dr Gaz had time to casually stroll to the bar and order himself a beer while their drummer was pounding away at the skins!

thanks guys. I must add that slowburner do rock hard. Apparently system 13 had 13 drummers - we've got one of them too! - so to any ex-system 13 drummers out there - let's all do a gig together with your new bands and call it 'Lovejoy lost'!.
