It pains me to say it, but I think my long-standing love affair with Cog is coming to an end. Don't get me wrong, they are still an awesome band, but they've done some things that really give me the shits.
[bitterness] Such as selling tickets through Ticketek for a gig at the Armadale (which I believe brought prices up to c. $16 whereas they were $12 on the door, after touting socialist ideals - hypocracy, anyone?), cutting down all their songs and making them radio friendly (which would be fine if it was solely for recordings, but they have also cut the majority of 'extra bits' out of their live set as well, including playing some crap lo-fi ending to Open Up, therefore making themselves more 'consumable'), and play exactly the same set in exactly the same order. They also sounded pretty ordinary, and (as much as I hate to say it) those pretentious VCA wankers The Grand Silent System made them sound even worse after having what was the best sound I have ever heard at the Armadale.
So there you have it, six months ago I wouldn't have said a bad thing about them, now the only good thing I'll say about them is that there seemed to be a lot of first and last timers at the show, and that in the long run their marketing techniques will backfire unless they drastically change their sound, which I wouldn't put past them.

The last time I saw Cog (an the Annadale last year), I vowed it would be my last time. They bore me to tears.

Yeah, I never have anything new to say so I tend to repeat myself ad infinitum.

Nothing wrong with that, take a look at the subject of my recent posts.
