Well I've had the Log cd for a while now and I dig it. Hadnt seen these guys live yet and definitely wasnt dissapointed. Pretty poor turnout crowd-wise which wasnt the best. Anyway Log put on a very entertaining show. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves, big smiles all round... attempted breakdancing and various other ridiculous moves complemented the heavy riffage well - and the harmonica stuff sounded great live with the grindy wall of sound. I wimped it (tired) and went home after a couple of Monstrous Blues tracks, but the guys were rockin, good to see them making the effort to come down as they seem to be doing with more regularity these days. Lookin forward to hearing some new tracks from these blokes

This was a good show, spoilt I think by the small turn out. Having only heard one track from Log and knowing only that I could expect masks and blatant self-promotion I was unsure what else to expect. They did not disappoint however, with a big sound (largely due to 2 bass players) and entertainment galore for the few punters who turned up. There was enough variety, dynamics (great little harmonica and solo jams), time changes and solid riffs to keep things interesting and I could not whipe the smile off my face. (I reckon the masks look like Geezer Butler on the biggest high of his life). I sometimes see bands purely for entertainment and ignore the music (cause it's crap) but these guys had both. Let's hope they get back down here soon (and a bigger stage would be good).
I love the MB EP and was blown away by the last 3 or 4 songs of their set at the Punters Club a while back so I was really lookin forward to these guys. After taking a long time to get ready and some initial sound problems they got into the swing of their set. They rocked hard and prompted me to remove my arse from the seat where I had planted in the break. After enjoying a couple of tracks from the EP and a couple I hadn't heard I had forgotten about the slightly off vocals from the lead man that my girlfriend had decided to draw my attention to. However, probably due to a lack of crowd support the pace had dropped off and the night seemed to be experiencing a slow death. I stuck around till the end of their set but spent the last 2 songs back in my seat. I know it must be disappointing to travel so far and play to a small crowd, but I felt MB could have been better - especially as they were much better playing with GOS last time. Their set reminded me of Tumbleweed's last show down here when they decided to play a couple of their new 'popier' songs and the crowd became uninterested. It became apparent then that the night was dying and possibly so was the band. That was a sad night, and if it wasn't for Log - last night may have been too.
Let's hope MB take a different path and come back soon to prove me wrong. It may have been just a bad show (due to the crowd or travel). Wow, this is too long, bye!
LOG ROCK!

yeah I was there too, I dunno what the reason was for the low turnout, maybe Starwars!!! As for Log: ".....I could not wipe the smile off my face..." damn right F-Rock, these guys had the entertainment factor down pat. Every band should have a crazy mascot like them. As for Monstrous Blues: Hhmm, it was a strange set, sort of great one minute yet dying in the arse the next, I dunno, but the vocals were slightly off, not helped by the unusually bad mix for the Espy.

Yeh, well people should have been with me at Star Trek the night before at the special midnight shows happening everywhere. And yeh, the sound was pretty disappointing for MB. Those guys were the loudest band I've ever heard at the Punters Club, with an awesome sound.

Bloody oath they're a loud band, my ears were still ringing the morning after the gig at the Espy!

Hey, shouldn't this be in the 'High beam gig reviews section'? It would blow away the cobwebs that are multiplying there.
