Two albums I’ve picked up lately seem to have a similar trait that is missing from a lot of so called ‘stoner’ rock out there: They are proving to be popular with a larger audience. The two Albums are “Orchestra del Desierto” and “Brant Bjork and the Operators.” These albums are getting big coverage in Melbourne with favourable reviews in the street presses, and some people I know who normally wouldn’t give heavy music the time of day are digging them. Admittedly these albums lie somewhere on the edge of heavy music, but it’s heartening to see this type of music making inroads into new areas.
These albums aren’t really too similar in content apart from being low-fi. Orchestra del Desierto has a desert accoustic feel with a touch of latin influence, and Brant Bjorks new one is a more groove laden lo-fi experience with plenty of pop and jazz moments. Can’t put the Operators album in the same class as ‘Jalamanta yet, but song’s such as ‘electric lalli land’ and ‘smarty pants’ provide some pure stoner glory. I have to say that I’m enjoying both albums immensley, they’re great to listen to when you’ve just about maxed out on the heavier stuff, and I bet they’d be great for a lazy weekend barbie!!
Anyone else digging these albums?

I haven't got either of them yet but have ordered them and am awaiting delivery.
I've heard very positive reviews of the Orchestra one and mixed reviews of the Brant Bjork one.
