Band: That’s All Folks!
Record Title: Psyche as one of the fine arts
Label: Beard Of Stars
Release Date: Out Now
Available on Cd and Lp
Having started out from humble beginnings playing 60’s garage-psych tunes and Stones covers, That’s All Folks! have come a long way. TAF! released a split 7" with Nebula back in 1998 and are now releasing their second full-length on the Beard Of Stars label. The title of the record is "Psyche as one of the fine arts".
The fist track on this album is an instrumental called ‘Firestorm’. The moment this song starts their 60’s psychedelic garage influences are evident as wildly erratic psychedelic guitars swirl between left and right speakers.
Track two ‘Jumboo’ is centred on a heavy rotating groove. TAF! take this simple formula and work it for all it’s worth. ‘The Plasma’ is not dissimilar to the previous track, yet this track incorporates vocals that are loaded with studio effects and the band also adds some queer sounding piano sounds into the mix.
‘Always Radiant and Fucked’ and some of the later tracks throughout the album such as ‘March of Chameleons 2K’ are pretty standard stoner riff-rock numbers. ‘Soul.Vent’ is a slower bluesy number with spacey guitars streaming over the sounds of a minimal rhythm section and suspended piano keys.
Track eleven ‘Psyche’ closes the record and sees TAF! thrive at what they do best. TAF! create hypnotic psychedelic tapestries for your aural listening pleasure.
