who else has this album?
ive had it for a week and can't stop listening to it. i love all the acoustic guitar and pete stahl's voice - very soulful singing throughout. that combination, actually, is what makes the album for me, plus there is some great percussion. im not much of a review writer, but this is up in top albums of the year for me. favourite tracks - shadow stealing, waiting for that star to fall, smooth slim, make fun.

Yeah, I've had this CD for a while now Herstrut and yes it is a very good album, even if I haven't been listening to it as often as other albums lately. The percussion is great and I love the horn parts that pop up now and again, especially in 'Shadow Stealing'. I know I'll probably cop abuse for this but I am yet to warm totally to Pete Stahl's vocals, seems to me to be high in the mix and too much. At times I think he should hang back and let the guitar and percussion come through more. Having said that, I still think it's a great album and it will only get better with summer on the way, definitely one to listen to with a cold beer on those bloody hot days!

That mp3 is awesome, I've just ordered the CD from Jeb and can't wait for it show up.
And speaking of Pete Stahl, any 'Wool' fans here? They had a very cool track titled 'short term memory loss' on a 7" split with Kyuss, it was also re-released a couple of years ago(?) on a Bongload Custom Records comp. It had a rather haunting desert rock sound. They've got some other stuff out there as well, the best IMO being an ep titled 'Budspawn', which leant more towards The Cult. Wool was Pete's band some time prior to Goatsnake.

Goo, does that Wool/kyuss 7" just have the two tracks on it? There is a copy for sale at Heartland records but I wasn't going to buy it as I've already got Shine (on 'Muchas Gracias')

God damn it. I'm still waiting on my copy of Orquesta to arrive from the All That's Heavy store. I've been reading excellent reviews of it for months....
Damn surface mail! That's the last time I ever get anything shipped surface from the US.

And the cost of shipping is a killer, the last CDEP I bought o/s the shipping cost more than CD! I was so glad to hear that High Beam now stocks MeteorCity stuff, saved me buying it o/s.

Yeah, but when I ordered it (almost 3 months ago!!) I don't think Jeb was stocking it.
I would love Jeb more than an alcoholic loves a liquor sale if he stocked more overseas stuff from the likes of Meteor City, etc. I would prefer to buy from an Aussie distributor but most of the time that choice isn't available.
Jeb - if you're reading this - any word on that Slow Horse cd?
