I hear ya Spectator - everything moves in cylces and it is about time somethin' fresh was brought to the table! There is nothing wrong with the sounds of 1969 though!
Have you got your copy of QOTSA yet?

hey, anyone checked out the DVD that comes with the new QOTSA album? it's so good to see dave grohl on drums again...it's really eerie though, it's the same lighting on him as the lighting in 'teen spirit,' minus the long hair....fucking about time he did some live drumming, he's awesome!!! p.s. does anyone reckon that QOTSA would have the profile they have if it wasn't an all-star lineup? i seem to think that if they weren't who they are, they would just be 'some' band floating around the states...

The DVD's pretty cool -- its good to see that Dave's still in great form drumming-wise. As for their exposure, i found it interesting that they didn't want Dave to do "Rated R" for that very reason... I'm kind of hoping that they don't get too much exposure --I'd hate to see my first QOTSA gig at the Sydney Echotainment Centre or something.... Mal (who needs food, stat).

...I haven't see that DVD yet but fuck it would be cool. Who can tell if the all-star line up has much to do with the amount of exposure they are getting... Nah, thinking a bit more I don't think so. This album was pretty anticipated after the last one. The novelty buzz (ohhh they are singing about drugs...) of "Feel Good Hit..." drew a few more people in, then that tour they did laid everyone out cold and wanting more. As news of the album started filtering through the deal seemed to become even sweeter. Shit just noticing there are quite a few guests on the album Dean Ween, Twiggy Ramirez....Fuck they should of got Rob Halford again he, heh, heh...

OH MY FUCKING LORD! I've finally listened to "Songs for the Deaf" and I'm blown away!! This is pure gold! Pure god damned gold! It's so tight, so well-crafted, so much of a pleasure to my ears....not to mention a pleasure to my eyes after seeing the DVD. Hello Mr Grohl sans tshirt Mmmm, yum!

Hehe, right on jen. It's annoying that Josh remains fully dressed throughout, isn't it?

I feel let down by QOTSA, in their attempt to break with all they've done in previous bands I feel they've failed to reach their potential. Sure there's a good song here and there, but that's it, no consistancy. This album, like the last, is overrated! They've yet to match The Gamma Rays single or 'the bronze' on the split with Beaver. But hey, that's just me.

After a few 'sober/straight' listens of the new QOTSA I wasn't sure about it, then I had a 'stoned' listen & it all started to make sense. Funny about that....
By the way I think they are going to be on Letterman on Sept.4, which I guess will air here on the 5th.

I've finally listened to it, I had fairly high expectations after reading so many good reports about it and I'm pleased to say it pretty much lived up to them, there are some tracks that it could have done without but over all it's a pretty cool rock record.

Believe the hype, this is a great album.
i seem to think that if they weren't who they are, they would just be 'some' band floating around the states... You're probably right nerdgirl, but they'd still be 'some' band that has just put out a bloody good album!!

I have been spinning the new albem flat out for the past few weeks and at first i was a little un decided about it but it really is a great albem and the DVD is fucking cool (dave is god).. I deffenetly think you have a point nerd girl.. however i think they still would have done fairly well anyway.. I heard that qotsa and the foo fighters are both gunna be at the Bid Day Out? ? I wounder if Dave will still play drums with queens for that? If so it will be an awsome day

Still lovin this album, even if there are a couple of tracks I skip most of the time, the rest is gold. Anyone getting sick of all the radio crap in between songs? Cool idea at first, but after a couple of listens I just kinda wish they's vanish off the CD. Might have to do a remaster of my own. I also heard Foo Fighters were comin down too, but it seems the drummer from Danzig is joining Queens now so Dave won't play 2 sets. Probably a good thing on those 40 degree BDO's.

. Is that Chuck Biscuits? Kind of a bummer that Dave won't play drums, a friend showed me the DVD today and it got me really pumped to see that same line-up live...
